Rachel leads the Operations team overseeing strategic and operational support for the Secretariat. She coordinates the Global Alliance’s membership and collaborations, overall financial management and facilitation of the management team. She has supported the Global Alliance equity efforts including as a member of the Equity Working Group, and in coordinating external equity support to the Secretariat. Rachel supports the Global Alliance’s Food Justice Working Group.

Rachel joined the Global Alliance after 8 years as Executive Director of The Stop Community Food Centre in Toronto, overseeing three sites of the highly-innovative organization, delivering food security and advocacy programs, and collaborating with national food security advocacy. She was Chair of the Toronto Food Policy Council between 2015-2022. Prior to The Stop, Rachel worked nationally and locally with homeless youth with Eva’s Initiatives, developing the first transitional housing program, and as Director of the National Program, facilitating national knowledge-sharing initiatives, and supporting the establishment of a national, partnership-based response to youth homelessness. Rachel also worked for the Ontario Government as a special assistant to the Minister of Health.

Rachel has a BA in History, and a Master’s of Education from OISE. She lives in Toronto and is an enthusiastic cook, gardener and dog walker.
