High Tide Foundation Joins the Global Alliance: Building a Sustainable Future for Food Systems and Climate Change Mitigation

The Global Alliance for the Future of Food is pleased to announce that High Tide Foundation has joined our alliance of philanthropic foundations working together and with others to transform global food systems now and for future generations.

Founded in 2004, High Tide Foundation has a long-standing commitment to fighting climate change and protecting our planet. The foundation’s mission to have a significant, measurable impact on climate change through the monitoring, mitigation, and regulation of greenhouse gas emissions aligns perfectly with our vision of transforming global food systems for the benefit of future generations.

High Tide Foundation has a remarkable track record of catalytic funding that genuinely contributes to the climate change movement. Over the years, the foundation has worked diligently to contribute to climate change mitigation, with a recent focus on reducing methane emissions globally. Through this work, High Tide Foundation has recognized the critical role that the food and agriculture sectors play in reducing emissions in line with the Paris Agreement.

“Agriculture and food systems are major contributors to climate change, but they also offer extraordinary solutions. There are many exciting opportunities to mitigate food systems emissions in ways that also increase resilience and well-being, but we must work together with a sense of urgency to find the best solutions and implement them at scale. High Tide Foundation looks forward to learning and partnering with the Global Alliance for the Future of Food to drive meaningful action on both addressing climate change and transforming food systems.” –  Marcia DeLonge, Program Director, High Tide Foundation

The foundation understands that achieving meaningful change in food systems requires innovation, leadership, and collaboration. It believes that efforts to mitigate climate change through food systems can deliver a wide range of co-benefits for both people and the planet. Therefore, High Tide Foundation has begun grantmaking in this area and is actively exploring further opportunities.

It is critical that philanthropy combine efforts for deep systems change, and use this opportunity to take action and inform new relationships between people, the planet, and the food we eat. Collaboration within the philanthropic community has been a cornerstone of High Tide Foundation’s past work in the energy sector. Recognizing the importance of a coordinated and cohesive approach, the foundation has joined the Global Alliance to be part of a collective effort to drive transformative change in food systems. Together, we can leverage our collective expertise, resources, and networks to create sustainable solutions for the future.

We are thrilled to have High Tide Foundation join the alliance. We look forward to working closely with the High Tide Foundation and our diverse network of members to transform global food systems and build a more sustainable and equitable future – for all.
