Ruchi leads Global Alliance’s Climate and Nature strategy supporting members and partners, ensuring transition to an equitable and resilient food systems. This includes engagement in global fora, deepening strategic partnerships, organizing convenings, commissioning research and organizing collective action related to the climate-nature-food nexus.

Ruchi has 25 years of experience in international development, human rights, gender and social justice. She has worked on the Right to Food, Land Rights, Gender just agriculture policies, Farmers’ Rights within the context of global trade agreements, corporate accountability, and Ecological and Climate Justice.

Ruchi has worked with several global INGOs including with VSO as their Global Practice Lead for Resilient Livelihoods working on youth and women’s empowerment with a focus on agroecology and green jobs. She also headed up ActionAid’s Right to Food Theme, its work on Resilient Livelihoods, and its global Climate Justice and Trade Justice Campaigns. She worked with Concern Worldwide UK setting up their Policy and Campaigns team delivering on successful ‘Unheard Voices’ campaign focusing on marginalised women farmers. Ruchi is on the board of ActionAid UK and has previously served on the programme committee of WWFUK.

Ruchi combines her unique global perspective with respect for the lived realities of those most affected by the climate crisis, gender and social injustice, marginalization and hunger. Ruchi holds a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics in International Development (Social Policy and Planning), and an Undergraduate degree in International Business and Economics from Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. She has lived and studied in India, the UK, the USA, Japan and South Africa. Ruchi is a grounded, strategic, reflective, impactful leader practicing feminist leadership in her personal and professional life. She currently lives in Kent, England with her family and dog.
