Dharini leads communications for the Global Alliance for the Future of Food, working on communications planning, media relations and providing editorial guidance on digital media and messaging around key communications moments. Dharini has worked for 14 years in media and communications with non-profits, primarily on climate change and food systems. Prior to the Global Alliance, she worked for eight years as global communications lead for Climate Action Network International, a global network of 2000 civil society organizations. Dharini brings skills in movement and network-building with a keen knowledge of aligning around shared narratives on the food-climate-nature nexus with a focus on systems thinking based on equity and justice. She has implemented media and communication strategies for several UN Climate Conferences, landmark reports and facilitated numerous communicators’ meetings.

She previously worked on communications with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and as South Asia Communications Officer for the CGIAR’s Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security Programme, based in New Delhi.

Dharini has a masters degree in social science and journalism. She started her career with The Hindu, an English daily in India.

She lives in Bangalore, India, and enjoys cooking and writing in her free time.
