Beacons of Hope

There are many efforts supporting sustainable food systems around the world that have been initiated with great success. Global Alliance members are funding a number of these initiatives, but the work on the ground extends far beyond what our members are supporting.

In the summer of 2016, the Global Alliance initiated a project with Biovision Ecological Foundation that aims to develop a framework that brings together evidence and stories of transitions towards more sustainable food and agriculture systems so that funders, advocates and policy-makers can better understand what pathways to sustainable systems might look like across different contexts and scales, and how these might be replicated across regions and scales.

Initial findings are charted to be released in Spring 2017.

We can’t afford taking a ‘business-as-usual’ approach any longer. How we produce, distribute and consume food will need to change toward more sustainable models if we want to address pressing global challenges like climate change, how to feed a growing population, and access to good food for all.
