Boosting Biodiversity Action Through Agroecology–Guidance for developing and updating of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs)
Integrating agroecology into National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) is essential for addressing biodiversity loss and transforming food systems. This guidance aligns with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) to enhance biodiversity while promoting sustainable agriculture. By adopting agroecological practices, countries can effectively tackle climate change, improve food security, and ensure the participation of local communities. The report provides actionable insights for policymakers and stakeholders to drive this transformation.
In collaboration with Biovision Foundation, WWF International, Alliance of Bioversity International & CIAT, and the Agroecology Coalition, we have explored the vital connection between agroecology and biodiversity conservation. This guidance supports national GBF implementation while ensuring coherence between biodiversity and food systems policies.
These resources encourage collaboration among stakeholders in the food and biodiversity sectors, empowering them to implement effective strategies that promote sustainable food systems and enhance biodiversity conservation.
