On 12 December 2017, the Global Alliance hosted a webinar on a newly published report, “Unravelling the Food-Health Nexus: Addressing Practices, Political Economy, and Power Relations to Build Healthier Food Systems.”
We had a fantastic response, with 500 people registered for the event. This confirms for us the pressing need to make transparent the connections between food systems practices and how they impact health and interact with compounding factors, like poverty and inequality and climate change.
During the call there were many questions we could not get to – participants were eager to engage – however Cécilia Rocha and webinar discussants Roberto Ciati, Simon Poole and Olivia Yambi kindly agreed to respond to some of the questions, summarized here.
Over the coming months we will be exploring ways we can further share messages about the report findings and define next steps to take action on the levers for change identified in the report. We look forward to staying connected with you and joining forces to work towards more renewable, resilient, diverse, equitable, healthy, and interconnected food systems. Our shareable report graphics and social media kit are available to you for getting messages out to your own networks.
