Letter to the Editor New York Times: What happened to lab-grown meat?

In an essay for the the New York Times, writer Joe Fassler pulls back the curtain on cultivated meat. Fake meat is being sold as a golden solution which would allow us to continue eating meat without the climate and ethical implications. But after almost a decade and billions of dollars of investment, there’s next to nothing to show for it.

In response to the article, Anna Lappé, Executive Director of the Global Alliance for the Future of Food, argues that other solutions urgently need the attention and investment that lab-grown meat has attracted. Many foundations are leading the way by investing in a multipronged approach to transition to regenerative agriculture. Making big bets on regenerative agriculture will give us a fighting chance to tackle the climate crisis, and in ensuring people have access to healthy and affordable food.
